Hi, my name is Nadia Kirsch and I am currently graduating from Tampa Preparatory School with honors. I was accepted and have committed to Scripps College in Claremont, California. As a graduation requirement, all students at Tampa Prep do a two week long internship. When I found out about this assignment, I knew right away that I wanted to complete it at Palm Harbor Montessori Academy.
I attended Palm Harbor Montessori from the time I was two years old in the Toddler House through graduation from the New Middle School. Growing up, I was inspired by all my teachers at PHMA. I wanted to learn how the teachers inspire the children. Interning at Palm Harbor would allow me to see the teachers in action. My plan is to become a Montessori teacher after I graduate.
My experience during my internship really reaffirmed my desire to be a Montessori teacher. I spent my first week in one of the primary classrooms with Ms. Ale, and my second week in a junior elementary class with Ms. V., as well as spending some time in Ms. Mina’s primary class. I had a wonderful time throughout my two weeks. It was a great opportunity to learn, help out and get a feel of what I could potentially be doing in the future. The children were well-behaved and knew their materials very well.
Throughout my senior year, I tutored at a public school in Tampa. The change in scenery to a Montessori school was a delight and the children were a pleasure. The teachers I interacted with all made me feel comfortable and made it a very welcoming and friendly environment. It was such a wonderful experience and I cannot wait to come back and visit PHMA soon!
